Mapnow is a location-based photo-sharing app where every photo and video shared by users lights up a point on the global map, gradually forming a visual canvas that connects the world. No matter where you are, you can easily enjoy stunning moments from all corners of the globe, as if opening a shared album belonging to the entire world.
The app’s homepage displays a large world map filled with flickering light spots, each with a floating photo card. By clicking on a card, you can view photos and videos posted by users in that area over the past 30 days. Each photo comes with a clear timestamp and geographic tag. If the photo was taken with the built-in camera and is unedited, a green marker will appear in the top right corner to ensure the authenticity of the image, so you’ll never have to worry about “fake photos” again.
Once you post a photo, Mapnow will automatically mark it on the map. The app also features social functions, allowing you to like and comment on photos or videos shared by others, and communicate via private messages once you follow someone. Additionally, Mapnow offers a Collections feature, where you can organize a series of photos into themed albums, such as travel routes, food check-ins, or specific landmarks. These collections can be shared, and other users can find them through search or by visiting your personal page.
Beyond global sharing, you can also create friend or family groups via iMessage, Meta Messenger, or WhatsApp. When you switch to group mode by clicking the button at the bottom left, the map will only display content shared within the group.
The homepage map supports both scrolling and zooming, and it also provides three small tools in the floating toolbar on the right for enhanced viewing: The pin button allows you to add points of interest, such as selecting beaches and oceans if you want to experience "facing the sea, with spring flowers in bloom." As you scroll the map, related photo cards will pop up first. The globe button simulates a map zoom-out effect, shrinking the view to the smallest scale and moving from west to east at a constant speed. The location button quickly moves the map to your current location, making it easy to view the latest photos posted nearby.
