As our digital lives become increasingly diverse, new apps are emerging one after another. Whether it’s managing to-do lists, building habits, tracking progress, or simply recording time, we are spoiled with options—ranging from fully featured all-in-one solutions to lightweight, focused tools.
Today’s spotlight is on karman. It emphasizes minimal design, is open-source and free, and combines three core features: habit building, task management, and a Pomodoro timer. For users who frequently rely on these functions in daily life, karman is a highly suitable option. When you first open the app, you’ll be greeted by a detailed onboarding guide that helps you quickly understand and master its basic features.

In the main task management section, you can create a new task by tapping the plus sign in the top right corner. Tasks can include a name, notes, deadlines, and reminders, with the option to set priorities. Once priorities are assigned, karman automatically groups tasks accordingly, making it easier to stay focused on what truly matters.

In the habits section, you can also add new habits via the top left button and set daily reminders to support consistent check-ins. Unlike many apps that simply mark completion with a single tap, karman allows you to add additional notes when checking in and uses a swipe button to finish the process, giving the experience a sense of ritual. Of course, if you prefer simplicity, you can also complete the check-in with just a swipe. As your streak builds up, karman displays your best consecutive record as “fire power,” further motivating you to keep going.

On the focus page, in addition to the standard focus timer, karman also comes with built-in white noise options. By tapping the small speaker icon in the top right corner, you can choose from rain, night, forest, ocean, and other sound themes—essentially saving you the need for a separate white noise app.

Overall, karman does not stand out with complex features or elaborate designs. Each of its functions can be found in other apps, but since it offers a well-rounded, practical experience and is completely free, karman is worth considering if you’re looking for a tool that covers habit building, task management, and focus in one place.
