Disco Elysium is a unique open-world role-playing game where players can shape the detective's personality and destiny. The story begins with the protagonist waking up in a rundown hotel room, suffering from a hangover and memory loss. To restore his past, he must not only solve a murder case in the city of Revachol but also gradually recover his lost memories. At first, the case seems straightforward, but it soon unfolds into a series of complex events that profoundly affect the city and its inhabitants. From death and sex to taxes and disco, Revachol is a place filled with real challenges. Here, you can choose to focus on solving the gripping murder case or take on some lighter tasks.

Disco Elysium features a complex and free-form skill system, allowing you to develop the detective's abilities based on your preferences. Different skill choices provide more options when facing events, further enhancing the freedom and variety of the gameplay. If you choose to boost intelligence, you'll gain more information—whether useful or not; choosing agility grants you sharp observation skills akin to Sherlock Holmes; choosing physique… well, sorry, you still can’t solve problems with violence. However, each path has its unique charm, making it perfect for multiple playthroughs to experience new possibilities. Overall, the system is brilliantly designed and well worth trying!

PROS

1. Disco Elysium made me feel like I was creating a brand new detective every time I played. The skill system is super flexible, allowing you to shape the character however you like. Different choices give you a completely new experience, and it’s really satisfying to explore the city from various perspectives.
2. The storyline is deeply captivating, and I was surprised by how much more there was behind a simple murder case. It unravels so many layers of social issues and human nature. Every time I progressed, I couldn't stop playing. The character relationships are complex, and it really felt like I was living in this world, almost forgetting I was playing a game.

CONS

1. Sometimes, the story progresses a bit slowly, especially during long stretches of dialogue and deep thinking. While it's very detailed, there were moments when I just wanted to push through and get to the more dramatic parts.
2. While the game's art style is unique, the overall visuals are quite minimalist, which can feel a bit too abstract at times. For players who enjoy more detailed visual experiences, it might come across as a bit underwhelming.
